AEthelmearc College of Bards

Greetings and welcome to the newly renovated on-line home of the Ęthelmearc College of Bards! This site is dedicated to the encouragement and support of the bardic arts within the Kingdom of Ęthelmearc and the Society for Creative Anachronism, or SCA and is meant to function, in part, as a repository of our songs, poems, stories, and other work.

We are made up of bards, troubadors, trouveres, minstrels, minnesingers, jongleurs, singers, storytellers, poets, scops, skalds, fillids, olaves, griots, wordsmiths, and friends of these arts. May you find this site a place to meet, teach, and be inspired.   So welcome to one and all. If you have questions, comments, or suggestions; please contact the the webminister, Lady Beatrice de Winter.

If you would like to learn more about the Ęthelmearc College of Bards, please come join our Yahoo! group, http://groups.yahoo.com/group/aebards/.

May you delight in the recordings of some of our Kingdom Songs which have been made available for the populace to listen to and learn.

Current Sylvan Bard Competition

Unto the performing populace of AEthelmearc come greetings from Gwendolyn the Graceful, Brehyres!

Be it known that Their Majesties are still entertaining gentles who wish to present themselves as potential Sylvan Bards. They ask only one thing: Find Them at an event and perform for Them at some suitable time. They wish to encourage performances of all kinds: stories, songs, poems, instrumental pieces, etc. They will announce Their decision in time for the Bard to assume the mantle of responsibility at Pennsic - so you still have a few weeks (and most importantly a few events) to display your performing prowess before Their Majesties!

Please do not be shy about asking to perform for either of Their Majesties. If They are able to give you audience, They will do so at any time during the course of the day. As I put it to His Majesty, They wish people to "perform AT them" - and He graciously agreed that this is an apt description. So if you are going to Pax or St Swithin's Investiture, pray seek Them out and show them your stuff!
